The Terence Iles Scholarship in Theological Education 2024 was aimed at providing financial assistance to any graduate of Ying Wa College who has the intention to pursue a qualification which will prepare him for serving in Christian ministries in any part of the world. Congratulations to Hui Chi Hang Jonathan (5D), Leung Yik To (1A), and Yuen Tsz Yu (1A) for winning the Champion in the Marine Vehicle Best Construction Award, 1st Runner-up in the Marine Vehicle Best Design Award, and Merit in the Marine Vehicle Time-keeping Mission Award in the "STEM x Marine Vehicle Design and Construction Competition". The three students teamed up to enter the "STEM x Marine Vehicle Design and Construction Competition" co-organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Marine Technology (HKIMT) and the Association of I.T. Leaders in Education (AiTLE) in November 2023. They attended different workshops including the application of design software, basic marine vehicle design, 3D model making and marine vehicle model making, etc., to learn design concepts and construction skills of models. They applied the expertise to their design and carried out production and testing in early May 2024. After rounds of revisions and refinements, their design and presentation stood out from many participating teams and won the awards. The participation in different workshops and the practical experiences aroused students’ interest in Innovative Technology (InnoTech) and gave them inspiration for further development in related perspectives. Congratulations to our alumnus, Mr. Lee Cheuk Yiu, for securing the qualification to participate in the men's singles badminton at the Paris 2024 Olympics as a representative of Hong Kong! Recently, Cheuk Yiu returned to Ying Wa, where the principal, vice principal, and former physical education teachers were all excited for him to participant his first Olympics and offered their encouragement. They even invited him to sign on the school jersey as a memento. We look forward to Cheuk Yiu bringing glory to the College and Hong Kong at the Olympics!
